AUSTRALIAN FLOWER TECHNOLOGY LAUNCHES INTO EUROPE
Oct 1 2007, Florigene Pty Ltd, a leading flower biotechnology company, launched its
FLORIGENE Moonlite™ carnation product in to the Europe market late last month.
 The new carnation followed many years of research and development and was one of a range of new flowers incorporating the company’s patented colour modification technology.
Colours in the blue spectrum - violet through to blue - don’t normally exist in many types of flowers. By using colour modification technology and introducing the blue gene, Florigene Pty Ltd has opened up the opportunity for a whole new range of novel-colored flowers.
Florigene Pty Ltd is a part of the Suntory group of companies that uses biotechnology to develop new commercial varieties of flowers.
Florigene Pty Ltd has developed six different colour modified carnations in its Moon series of FLORIGENE® carnations. The first of the series to be released was named FLORIGENE Moondust™. Following on from FLORIGENE Moondust™ were FLORIGENE Moonshadow™, FLORIGENE Moonshade™, FLORIGENE Moonvista™, FLORIGENE Moonlite™ and FLORIGENE Moonaqua™. The FLORIGENE carnations have been particularly popular in USA, Canada and Japan.
